 The properties and functionality of spin-on glass materials is largely controlled by the various compents of the polymer structure. An overview of these key compentents and their affect on material properties is provided in the figure to the right.
The controlled variation of these key components gives rise to the three key classes of silicon-based spin-on materials:

- Siloxanes
- Silsesquioxanes
